Nellie, formerly known as Jetta, was born on August 14, 1998. She came to us through the Scottish Terrier Rescue of Southern California in May of 2000. Her previous owners gave her up because they had just started a new business and they could not give her the attention she needed. Nellie's favorite activity is running out the kitchen door and clearing the yard of any vermin - which especially pleases the neighbors at 6AM! Nellie loves walks, chasing an kind of animals (especially squirrels), and going to the park. She makes sure all the boys in the house are always kept in line at all times. Unfortunately, last year Nellie was diagnosed with Cancer on her spleen (Histiocytic Sarcoma). She went through a splenectomy and Chemotherapy for 6 months and had been free of the cancer. Last week, Nellie was not acting herself, so we took her to her friends at VCA Animal Care Center. Dr. Mitchell and his staff cared for her as usual, but had a bad diagnosis - Nellie was extremely anemic. Nellie returned to her Internist Dr. Audrey Cook and we were given a devastating diagnosis - her Histocytic Sarcoma had gone into her bone and was blocking the production of red blood cells. Nellie passed away on 7/25/05 - we will miss our girl greatly.
